It's difficult enough to tell a story in such a short time frame as a short film. To then do so without any dialogue is another step further. It is no surprise to us that Tobia Berti, a submitter from last year and a nominee for Best Writing, was the one to submit such a film.
The trailer is just a glimpse at the beauty of this film, and we are so thankful to have received another film from such a talented director.
                                                    
- THE ALARM -

"The lack of dialogue is beautiful, enhanced by highly effective nonverbal communication thanks to the expressiveness of the actors. The idea, which is entirely plausible in probabilistic terms, that human beings can cross over into an altered parallel dimension is palpable. The short film is pervaded by a restless climax that fully expresses the malaise, the pain of living, and the existential emptiness of modern man. A "being together" that emerges strongly as a necessity, but which fails to find its own identity, leading to collective fragmentation. The settings and colors are beautiful, as is the cyber-flavored characterization, which constantly gives a sense of anguish. There is a recognizable style and fine craftsmanship in their realization. The opening scene, from which the scenario and plot unfold, already encapsulates the entire essence of the work on a symbolic level.
It conveys a sense of great completeness in terms of screenplay, plot, subject matter, and photography."

- THE ALARM -

"A minimalist piece, devoid of any dialogue, which projects an anxiety-inducing state. This is the most disturbing aspect, the realization of how much man can find himself increasingly projected towards becoming an automaton of himself, with a consequent loss of dialogic value. It's not easy, in a matter of minutes, to convey the feeling of an epitaph for the man of tomorrow. Yet Roberta Barbiero's interpretation is highly convincing, because she manages to capture the audience's attention thanks to her facial expressions, made even more incisive by the absence of eye movements covered by an augmented reality device, focused on verbal expressions that draw the viewer into the inexorably induced changes in mood and emotional experiences. Minimally brilliant. Especially when viewed at night.
